Rejeanne Fairhead has set a new world record for the 5km distance in the women’s 95-99 age group category.

Competing at the Ottawa Race Weekend in Tamarack, Canada, Fairhead, 96, finished in a time of 51:09.
Fairhead’s time was almost five minutes faster than American Betty Lindberg, who set the previous world record in February 2022.

Lindberg – who was 97 at the time – finished the Atlanta Peachtree Marathon Weekend in 55 minutes and 48 seconds.
“It felt very good,” Fairhead said, as quoted by Canada’s National Post.
“I was proud of what I did. But I was glad it was all over too.”
