WHY MEGHAN MARKLE NEVER ATTENDED EASTER WITH ROYALS
Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle has attended several royal family outings such as the annual Christmas Walk and more. However, the Duchess of Sussex has never joined the royal family on their annual Easter church service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
Meghan and Prince Harry have two kids together – Prince Archie (4) and Princess Lilibet (2). So, why has Meghan never joined the royal family for their Easter tradition?
People reports that in 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan were weeks away from tying the knot and opted to skip the gathering. Queen Elizabeth was joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton (who was pregnant with Prince Louis at the time), Princess Beatrice as well as Princess Eugenie and her then-fiancée Jack Brooksbank.
In 2019, Meghan skipped the Easter church outing as she was pregnant with her son, Prince Archie. Prince Harry and Meghan welcomed Archie a few weeks later on 6 May. The Duke of Sussex did attend the event solo. The pair were living in Frogmore Cottage at the time.
In 2020, the Sussexes quit their duties as senior working members of the royal family and moved to California, US where they started a new life. However, that year the royal family did not gather for their Easter tradition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The royal family also cancelled their Easter plans in 2021 due to the pandemic.
In 2022, the royal family resumed their Easter tradition. However, Prince Harry and Meghan were absent. The couple cheered on athletes at the Invictus Games in The Hague. This year the couple reportedly spent Easter in California.
KING CHARLES ATTENDS EASTER, KATE MIDDLETON AND PRINCE WILLIAM SKIP
This year King Charles attended the Easter Church service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor on Sunday 31 March. This marked the King’s first appearance since Buckingham Palace revealed his cancer diagnosis in February. A source told The Independent that the monarch responded very well to the treatment allowing him to make a public appearance during Easter.
However, Prince William and Kate Middleton were absent from the royal family’s annual Easter Sunday church service. This was likely due to Kate’s health. The Princess of Wales revealed her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video shared on Twitter on Friday 22 March. This sent shockwaves to her fans and followers, following her major abdominal surgery.
Page Six reported that Prince William, Kate and their three kids were expected to celebrate Easter privately at their Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk. Prince William and Kate are parents to Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5).
