Prince Edward takes break from duties while King Charles recovers
Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh will be taking a small break from his royal duties, after travelling to South Africa and St. Helena.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward is reportedly taking a brief break from his royal duties after he completed his overseas trips to common wealth country South Africa and British territory St. Helena, earlier this month.

A BRIEF HIATUS FOR PRINCE EDWARD
According to media outlet, the Royal Diary the Duke of Edinburgh’s next appearance won’t be until 8 February, where he’s scheduled to attend a reception at the Institute of Physics and a talent showcase at The Savoy as patron of the Production Guild of Great Britain.
Prince Edward’s brief hiatus comes while both King Charles III and Princess Kate are recovering from their respective surgeries.
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton underwent a planned abdominal procedure at The London Clinic.
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter”, a statement by Kensington Palace read.
Soon after news of Princess Kate’s surgery, it was announced that King Charles would be undergoing a medical procedure for his enlarged prostate.
“In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure”, Buckingham Palace said in a statement later that day.

‘GOOD ON HIM FOR HAVING A BREAK’
After travelling to South Africa, Prince Edward then travelled to Saint Helena for about four days. While there the Duke met the world’s oldest living land animal, a 191-year-old tortoise named Jonathon.
According to US Weekly this is the same tortoise that his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, met during her 1947 visit as a young princess.
In response to Prince Edward’s brief break many royal fans have taken to social media to express their concern for the Duke of Edinburgh.
One user hopes Prince Edward is okay during his time of rest, “Gosh, I hope he’s ok. I like him. Quietly gets on with his role. Losing both parents is hard. Hope he is dealt with the loss ok”.
“HRH The Duke of Edinburgh has done back-to-back engagements plus has been flying all over the world. Good on him for having a break. Rest up Sir and enjoy your break”, a user shared.
Another social media user commented: “Hope he’s okay. He and Sophie have been working so hard for a long while now, lots of overseas trips as well as UK engagements”.
While Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince Edward and King Charles take time off from their royal duties, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh will continue tending to their royal duties.
