Seriously, it’s not a chopped roof sitting on some gravel, it’s a car with 30mm ground clearance and it drives under its own power.

Your eyes are not deceiving you, this is not just a picture of a car with its roof chopped off. What it is is a Fiat Panda that’s been stanced, slammed, you name it. With just 30mm of ground clearance it takes the prize for world’s lowest car.

WORLD’S LOWEST CAR

If you don’t want to take our word for it, you can watch the build video below. This absurd, brilliant creation came to our attention via The Drive. It’s the work of Italian YouTube channel Carmagheddon using a first-generation Fiat Panda. They cut the salvaged Fiat’s body so low that all that remains is a thin portion of the car running rearward from the A pillar.

Full disclosure, these guys are Italian, okay, so unless you speak the language, you’re probably not going to learn a lot from the dialogue. Nevertheless, Italians are mighty entertaining to watch even if you don’t understand them, but more so when they’re cutting a Fiat Panda to bits. You get the gist of it.

WORLD’S LOWEST CAR: HOW DID THEY DO IT?

The builders reinforced the Panda’s body with a box frame and suspended the corners on casters, leaving just 30 mm of ground clearance. Beneath the impossibly low bodywork is a trike with a two-stroke engine to provide motive power. This leaves just enough space to cram a driver inside who has to lie flat it’s so cramped.

Even so, he needs to steer with the assistance of a GoPro on the roof that streams to his phone inside. Like most stanced cars, it looks pretty unpleasant to drive as it drags along the ground. Imagine showing up to the next park-off in one of these? Kudos to these crazy Italians for this tongue-in-cheek take on the slammed, stance culture. We love it!
