On Monday, Chiefs began to officially welcome new players ahead of the next season, with as many as six recruits unveiled in a social media blitz.
Ranga Chivaviro was signed on a two year deal with a one-year option, but this confirmation came amidst talks that there may be a fight for his services.

As previously highlighted by iDiski Times, Chivaviro had joined Marumo Gallants prior to the start of last season, although he then was subsequently said to have signed a pre-contract with Richards Bay.
Yet Gallants had the option to extend his contract, which they duly did, apparently rendering his pre-contract null and void.

Agent Pontsho Madumo has now explained how things have unfolded and why he will be free to join Chiefs.
“Marumo had the irrevocable option to renew his contract for a further year,” Madumo told Far Post.
“Chivaviro signed his pre-contract in March, three months before the expiry of his initial contract with Marumo Gallants. The Limpopo side then triggered their option which had no time limitation. Thereafter, they sold him to Kaizer Chiefs for an undisclosed fee.
“Based on this, the pre-contract Chivaviro signed with Richards Bay is invalid.”
