West Wallsend were playing rugby union against Cardiff in a Newcastle women’s rugby league match, in New South Wales.
Wallsend was so close to winning the premiership with a 6-4 lead when the final whistle blew. The Wallsend player holding the ball was so excited she threw it straight up in the air, in celebration… oblivious (or forgetting) the all important rule that the ball is still live until play finishes!
A smart opposition player – Bryden Sloan Harris – sneaked in, grabbed the ball, and made off to secure the premiership for her team instead… taking Cardiff to an 8-4 victory!

Bryden shared the video footage on Facebook, saying: “Holy s*** it’s me hahahahaha. I will never get over this and I’m not even sorry.” She’s been inundated with international attention since the game and said: “I don’t know what’s happening but it’s going on my resume.” She said she’s “stoked” her team won.
