A little under 14 weeks remain until South Africans go to the polls in the 2024 national elections.

It will be the seventh set of national elections since 1994.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the all-important date for the elections this week, declaring them to be Wednesday, 29 May – as reported by the SAPeople website.

Voter turnout is key for those parties looking for seats in parliament at this year’s elections.

Below, a look at which of South Africa’s nine provinces had the best – and worst – voter turnout in the most recent national elections in 2019.

Gauteng led the way with 68.28%, while Limpopo trailing in ninth – and last – place with just 56.36%, according to the official IEC website.
