Ahead of the Budget Speech, the Beer Association of South Africa has called for an excise increase of 4.9% for beer, in line with projected inflation for this year.
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana will deliver the Budget Speech for the 2024/25 fiscal year in Cape Town on 21 February.
The association said it welcomed the past two budget cycles with excise adjustments that were, on average, in line with projected inflation for that year.
According to the association, this has provided much-needed certainty to the industry.
