The 2023 edition was the 15th Varsity Cup played since the inaugural tournament in 2008.
There was no tournament in 2020 due to Covid-19.
In the now 15 completed season’s to date, Maties and UP Tuks have triumphed on five occasions each, with UCT Ikeys being crowned champions twice, as have the NWU Eagles.
The only other winner to date has been UFS Shimlas.
