Two police officers shot dead while fighting crime
Two police officers, a Sergeant and a Constable were shot while attempting to find a stolen car, in Kimberley.
As two additional police officers were shot while attempting to find a stolen car. The assault on officers continues.
Both Constable Okaetse Mandindi, 35, and Sgt. Kedimetse Masilo, 45, were serving with the Kimberley flying squad when they passed away.

The two officers, a Sergeant and a Constable, were investigating a report that a rental automobile had reportedly been stolen and was on its way to Bloemfontein.
The two members responded when they saw the car in Kimberley after it was detected there.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE POLICE OFFICERS?
The suspect smashed the bakkie and then fled the scene on foot while the members pursued the stolen car into the Transnet building.
Two of the members were tragically shot to death as they gave chase and were fired at.
The male suspect, who was armed, made off on foot. In order to find the armed suspect, Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola activated and mobilized all police resources.

THE COMMISSIONER’S WORDS
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola is saddened and shocked by the fatal shooting which resulted in the death of two SAPS members attached to the Kimberley Flying Squad.
“Attacks on members, according to her, are attacks on the State. In a time when our nation is honoring and paying respect to women who have made their mark on history,” she said.

She sent her deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of the two fallen members.
The 38-year-old suspect was detained and will soon appear in court after being charged with murder.
