Tshwane to experience 10-hour water outage on Thursday
The City of Tshwane says there’s a possible supply interruption as teams will conduct emergency water upgrades today.
Parts of Tshwane may not have water on Thursday, 11 April due to maintenance.
The City of Tshwane will be conducting emergency upgrades to the water supply network in Philip Nel Park and Highveld.
CITY OF TSHWANE TO UPGRADE WATER NETWORK
In a statement, the metro municipality said teams will carry out emergency upgrades and tie-in connection to the water supply network in Philip Nel Park, on the corner of Morkel Street East and Jan Heukemel Avenue.
The City of Tshwane said although an interruption to the water supply would be avoided at all costs, it may occur for 10 hours from 8:00 – 18:00.
The following areas may be affected:
- Danville Extension 0, 1, 2, 3 and 6
- Elandspoort
- Philip Nel Park
- Danville Primary School
- Hoerskool Pretoria West
- Laerskool Generaal Beyers Primary
- Metro Police Academy
- Philip Nel Park Fire Station
- Pretoria Gold Club
- Pretoria West Hospital
- Rebecca Street Crematorium and Cemetery
- Tshwane Leadership and Management Academy (Premos)
- Tshwane University of Technology (Main campus)
EMERGENCY UPGRADES IN CENTURION
In addition, the City of Tshwane teams will also carry out another emergency upgrades and tie-in connection to the water supply network in Highveld Extension 65 on Kaoline Street and Olievenhoutbosch Road.
The maintenance is also scheduled to take place from 8:00 until 18:00 on Thursday, 11 April.
The following areas will be affected:
- Highveld Extension 2, 7 and 8
- Irene Extension 52
- Centurion Academy
- Hyundai Centurion
- Makro Centurion
CITY PROVIDES UPDATE ON HAMMASKRAAL CRISIS
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, 10 April, Tshwane Executive Mayor Cilliers Brink, Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu and other stakeholders visited Hammanskraal.
The officials provided an update on ongoing interventions to fix the two-decade long water crisis.
In 2023, a cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal claimed over 20 lives.
President Cyril Ramaphosa also visited the area to address disgruntled residents. He promised that Magalies Water will build a smaller water plant which will take six months.
