Tshwane streets impacted by SANCO-led march

Tshwane drivers are advised to use alternate routes due to a planned march on Monday, August 5.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has alerted residents to a planned march by the South African National Civics Organisation (SANCO) to Pretoria West Hospital on Monday, August 5.

TSHWANE SANCO MARCH TO PRETORIA WEST HOSPITAL

TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said SANCO wants all projects at Pretoria West Hospital to consider hiring locals. 

The marchers will gather from 9:00 at Philip Nel Pick n Pay parking and march to Pretoria West Hospital. 

From the gathering point, the marchers will join Sytze Wierda Avenue and proceed until they reach the hospital, where they are expected to disperse at 12:00. 

The following streets will be affected:
Sytze Wierda Avenue
Morkel Street
Strause Street
Robert Cole Brown Street

Motorists can use the following alternative routes:
Transoranje Road
Percy Eagle Street
Waynand Smith Street
Gustav Schmikl Street

Mahamba said South African Police Service (SAPS) officers will also be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.
