The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will be making payment to qualifying beneficiaries within the first week of August 2023.
SOCIAL GRANT PAYMENT DATES FOR AUGUST 2023
The elderly(older person’s grant) will receive their money first, followed by the disability grant. The child support grant including all other grants such as war veterans grant, foster grant, grant-in-aid will be paid out thereafter.

The social relief in distress (SRD) recipients will receive their money (R350) as and when they are approved.

All grants can be collected from the day they become available onwards at major retailers such as Spar, Checkers, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Shoprite and Shoprite-U-Save as well as the SA Post Office.
WHAT IS GRANT-IN-AID AND WHO QUALIFIES

This grant allows a social grant recipient who can’t take care of themselves, to receive an additional R500 to pay the person who assists in taking care or them full time.
In order to qualify you must:
- Already be a recipient of a disability grant, war veterans or an older person’s grant.
- Not be able to take care of yourself due to physical or mental disabilities and require full time care
- You must not be cared for in an institution that receives government subsidy
It takes up to three months to process the application and if approved, you will be paid from the date from which you applied.
