England’s Princess Royal Anne is enjoyed a quick three-day trip to South Africa as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne.
The Princess was met at OR Tambo House in Pretoria today by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe (because President Zuma was otherwise engaged in Kwa-Zulu Natal…maybe preparing for a fourth wedding this weekend?).
According to a statement from the President’s office, “The President wishes the Princess Royal well during the visit, which will further strengthen relations between South Africa and the United Kingdom.”
The Princess Royal as Princess Anne is now known (well, since 1987), is the second child and only daughter of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.
Today she also visited an eye hospital and attended a Thanksgiving service at Pretoria’s Cathedral of Saint Alban the Martyr.
