Yes, it is true! The 55 km stretch on the N14 between Pofadder and Kakamas has a ‘speed limit’ of 250 km/h (155 mph).

So can you just rock up and speed? The answer is NO; you can’t just pitch up in your private car and go full tilt whenever you please.

You need special permission from the government to use this stretch of tar to its full potential.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that hijackers in South Africa are NOW targeting these specific SIX vehicles.

THESE SIX VEHICLES ARE NOW BEING TARGETED BY HIJACKERS

According to Fidelity Services group CEO Wahl Bartmann that they had seen an increase in the number of hijackings recorded in 2023.

He told BusinessTech that the most prominent hijacking tactic these months is targeting victims at their homes. He said that victims who park outside a house and exit or enter their gates are particularly vulnerable.

“Some incidents are pre-planned, and before the hijacking, some perpetrators follow victims to identify the victims’ homes and travel habits,”he said.

AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF HIJACKINGS RECORDED BETWEEN MARCH AND APRIL

Vehicles under the Toyota, VW, Ford, and Nissan brands continue to be common targets among criminals, and the specific models include:

  • VW Polo
  • Toyota Hilux
  • Toyota Etios
  • Ford Ranger
  • Toyota Fortuner
  • Nissan NP200

Bartmann furthermore said trucks with valuable loads are also now popular vehicles being targeted, specifically Hyundai H100s.
