The N1 near William Nicol is STILL closed after a tanker exploded on Friday morning.
One person was injured in the explosion.
HERE IS THE LATEST ON THE TANKER EXPLOSION
According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the N1 is closed from Malibongwe Drive.
“Traffic in the area is severely affected as the roadway remains closed for clean-up operations.”
Motorists were advised to AVOID the area and to use alternative routes where possible.
He said multiple emergency service agencies, including Emer-G-Med, responded to the scene of a collision involving a tanker on the N1 near William Nicol.
“On arrival on the scene, the tanker carrying an unconfirmed substance had exploded and was engulfed in flames.”

The explosion happened just before midday on Friday.
Van Reenen furthermore said one person was treated for moderate injuries and taken by Emer-G-Med ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
