Officers from the EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU), alongside the JMPD Tactical Response Unit Region E and the Gautrans Special Law Enforcement Unit, arrested three male suspects aged between 38 and 47 and confiscated 250 SASSA cards.
The multidisciplinary team were executing operational duties, when they stopped a suspected vehicle on Andrew Mapheto drive in Thembisa.
The police officers searched the vehicle and found the SASSA cards.
One of the suspects admitted to utilising the SASSA cards for fraudulent criminal activities.
The suspects were arrested and detained at Thembisa Police Station.
