KIMBERLEY – The Provincial Organised Crime Unit together with members of Upington Detectives traced and yesterday arrested a man in Louisvaleweg informal settlement near Upington for the murder earlier this year of businesswoman Judith (Judy) Redelinghuys (71).
On 30 June 2020, Redelinghuys was found murdered and thrown into her swimming pool with her hands tied behind her back. It was later discovered that some of her jewellery was missing. According to a report in Maroela Media at the time, Redelinghuys had for a long time held the franchise for Woolworths in Upington. She was also involved with the development of the townhouse complex where she lived.
It was Judith’s daughter, Leanne Arnon, who discovered her mother’s body after searching for her when she didn’t answer her phone.
The police said the 34-year-old man they arrested was positively linked to the incident after intensive police investigation, and he would soon appear in the Upington Magistrates Court.
