CITY OF TSHWANE BLAMES BULK WATER SUPPLIER

Meanwhile, parts of the nation’s capital Pretoria have been facing water outages for over a week and neither the City of Tshwane nor bulk water supplier Rand Water want to take the blame.

The two parties have both issued statements squarely blaming each other.
On Saturday, City of Tshwane’s MMC for Utility Services Themba Fosi alluded that the water challenges experienced in Pretoria East is ‘primarily due to Rand Water’s inconsistence’.

However, in a series of tweets, Rand Water hit back and claimed that despite numerous warnings, Tshwane’s excessive water consumption was to blame.
“The lack of communication and transparency from Rand Water, regarding these issues has only exacerbated the situation and left our residents in Pretoria East and across the City in a state of uncertainty and frustration”, said Fosi.

“Rand Water cannot blame the City for exceeding water consumption, when the primary lies within their own technical problems”, Fosi added.
