Springboks star lock RG Snyman is expected to return to the pitch in March next year in a “worst-case scenario”, according to Munster head coach Graham Rowntree.
Snyman sustained a chest/shoulder injury during the Springboks’ 12-11 World Cup Final victory against the All Blacks. He underwent surgery in South Africa when the team returned from France.

The 28-year-old has now returned to Munster’s training camp in Limerick for rehabilitation, and his playing time will be curtailed once more.
Snyman has been plagued with major injuries in recent seasons. He underwent two significant knee operations while with Munster and the outfit have reportedly sought compensation from SA Rugby over his latest knock.

“He is in our leadership group. He has had his injury woes and been through some dark times.
“For him to be able to lift a trophy at the end of last season with all his mates was fantastic and I wish him all the best.
The coach added: “He has got unfinished business with us. Probably not going to be able to see him until March. I’m planning for the worst-case scenario, that will be March, but he still has a big role to play.
“He has a big job to do for us before he leaves.”
Rowntree did get some good injury news though as Peter O’Mahony (shoulder) and Jack O’Donoghue (ankle) are not set to be sidelined for long.
