The disturbing phenomenon of farm murders in South Africa needs to be stopped, says the DA Abroad. The recent spate of farm attacks saw 5 farmers murdered in a space of 5 weeks in the Free State alone. Beyond this there are many incidents of attacks across the country, as the rural security situation appears to have reached a crisis point.
A farmer in South Africa is three times more likely to be murdered than a police officer, and the nature of the attacks is deeply concerning, says the DA. South Africa’s farmers, farming, and the food security of SA are under existential threat, according to Dianne Kohler Barnard, Shadow Minister of State Security who will this evening be addressing South Africans abroad in an online Zoom event.
For a quick update from the “front line” in South Africa and to learn about the current situation, what is causing it, what is being done by the DA to help stop this, and what you can do… you can join the event via Zoom WebMeeting (link below).
The event will include 20 minutes update, and 20 minutes Q&A, with Kohler Barnard.
