A new book about Tesla founder Elon Musk hits the shelves on Tuesday and reveals ‘interesting’ things about the South African billionaire

South African billionaire Elon Musk is the subject of a new book making jaw-dropping claims which some fear could have consequences for him.

The biography, authored by Walter Isaacson, hits the shelves on Tuesday, 13 September 2023. Isaacson has already penned books on several pioneers, including on Apple founder Steve Jobs.

INTERESTING FACTS IN NEW ELON MUSK BOOK

  • -Elon Musk’s brother, Kimbal, once bit off his flesh during a fight. According to the book, the two Musks came to blows over their start up Zip2. Elon was later rushed to hospital where he received stitches and a tetnus shot.
  • It was also learnt that the Tesla founder wants “smart people to have kids.” Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, who welcomed twins with the 52-year-old in November 2021, said Musk always encouraged her to have children.

“He really wants smart people to have kids, so he encouraged me to do this. I can’t possibly think of genes I would prefer for my children,” Zilis tells Isaacson in the book. Musk is a father to 10 children, including 18-year-old twins Vivian Jenna Wilson and Griffin, along with triplets Kai, Damian and Sax, who were born in 2006, with his first wife, Justine Wilson.

  • He abruptly turned off Ukraine’s access to his Starlink satellite internet system last year just before the war-torn country was about to launch an underwater attack on Russia. This meant the Ukrainian forces didn’t have the necessary communication to carry out their attack.
  • Musk has a very difficult relationship with his father, Errol, a South African engineer. In the book, Isaacson quoted Elon’s sister, Tosca, who said Errol would sometimes lecture his children for hours, “calling you worthless, pathetic, making scarring and evil comments, not allowing you to leave.”
