‘Size of an egg’: Johannesburg stunned by egg-sized hail in rare hailstorm
Hailstorm has left Johannesburg residents astonished as they were shocked by egg-sized hailstones during this unusual weather event.
On the evening of Monday, 13 November, certain areas of Johannesburg, notably Midrand and other northern regions, bore the brunt of an unexpected and destructive hailstorm.
The havoc wrought by this unanticipated weather event was particularly severe in Midrand, where the storm left a trail of devastation in its wake.

HAILSTORM AFFECTED ROADS, PROPERTIES AND VEHICLES
Hailstones, measuring up to the size of eggs, pounded the affected areas, resulting in extensive damage to both properties and vehicles. The force of the storm was such that some roads became impassable, blocked by a deluge of hail and debris.
The neighboring suburb of Alexandra also experienced adverse weather conditions, compounding the overall impact of the storm. Shockingly, over a thousand vehicles succumbed to the onslaught of the freak hailstorm, while properties faced significant damage.

The Citizen reported that, Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS) said one person was injured after a hail storm battered parts of city on Monday.
The community is now grappling with the aftermath, undertaking assessments to gauge the full extent of the damage and initiating recovery efforts.
