Government listens, but speak to the right departments!

Everyone has important emergency numbers saved. However, not everyone knows where to reach the different departments when they have an emergency.

Would you know where to find a list of SASSA Regional Offices?

What about government’s Frequently Asked Questions, which can refer you to other places?

The South African has covered the basics for this guide.

Here are the six important government links you should bookmark.

Government is what governs the state.

However, it’s not just one thing or department that’s put in charge of South Africa.

South Africa has different departments, like the Department of Health versus the Department of Agriculture.

You should know that every department has its own website.

What are the most important government links you should know?

We’ve looked!

Remember to bookmark these links.

GOVERNMENT: CALL CENTRES AND HELPLINES

Call centres and helplines are there for reaching someone quickly. Likewise, you’ll want to call rather than email for anything that’s urgent.

Where should you call?

Every department has its own phone number. Inside every department, there are other departments and regions! However, call the most relevant for your query.

Go here for a list of call centres and helplines.

If you call the wrong number, however, just call another one.

GOVERNMENT: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

South Africans have a lot of questions for government every day.

However, many of these questions are asked too often, and they already have answers.

You can find an FAQ at this link.

It covers important questions. However, you might not find specific answers pertaining to other departments here.

GOVERNMENT: SASSA REGIONAL OFFICES

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) pays out social grants, including the Disability and Childcare Grants.

However, sometimes you will need to visit your nearest SASSA office.

You can find a full list of Regional Offices here.

But make sure you go at the right times! Call first, and ask what their office hours are. You can save yourself time this way.

PRESIDENCY: SPEECHES BY THE PRESIDENT

The Presidency is at government’s top.

However, various other departments work in supporting the President.

President Cyril Ramaphosa gives speeches about South Africa. But not everyone knows where to find them!

View previous speeches at this list.

PARLIAMENT: A LIST OF MINISTERS

What about who heads which department?

Government also provides a list of ministers, which you can view here.

GOVERNMENT CONTACT DIRECTORY

A full governmental contact directory exists here.

Check the directory if you aren’t sure who to contact. However, you can also call the individual department.

Likewise, you can also check each department’s own site.
