Singapore Airlines to boost frequency
Singapore’s flag carrier Singapore Airlines will soon increase its weekly flights connecting Johannesburg and Singapore.
According to reports from Travel News, the airline will up its weekly flights between Singapore and Johannesburg from seven to 10, starting 2 April 2025, and then to 12 weekly flights from 16 June.
The boost comes as part of Singapore Airline’s broader strategy to expand its global network and meet growing travel demand.
Flight schedule
The flight schedule from 2 April to 15 June will be as follows:
- In addition to the daily flights, three more flights will take off from both Johannesburg and Singapore on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Then the 12 weekly flights, which will kick off from 16 June, will operate on the same schedule as the extra daily flights, but with added flights on Mondays and Saturdays.
Emirates to also launch fourth daily flight to JHB
Following the successful launch of the second daily A380 flight between Dubai and Johannesburg in September, Emirates also recently announced the start date for a fourth daily flight along the route.
The fourth daily service will begin on 1 March and will add 354 more seats flying out from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, on a three-class Boeing 777-300ER.
Emirates Deputy President and COO, Adnan Kazim, said that the airline had now reintroduced the capacity it offered to South Africa pre-pandemic, with 49 weekly flights across three gateways, Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.
