Sheriff arrives at Luthuli House to seize ANC assets

The ANC has failed to pay its debt to a election campaign service provider worth millions and faces losing its assests.

It’s D-day at the offices of the ruling African National Congress(ANC) as the sheriff of the court has arrived at their Luthuli House headquarters to seize assets.

According to unconfirmed reports on social media, security have blocked access the buildings.

This comes after the ruling party lost its appeal at the Supreme Court to have a Gauteng High Court ruling dismissed. The party has been ordered to ay around R102million to Ezulwini Investments.

The company says that they had an oral agreement to produced and installed 30 000 PVC banners as part of the ANC’s last push strategy before the 2019 general elections.

The company had charged the ANC R2900 for each banner, and an additional R70 to take each one down.

However, in court the ANC had attempted to argue that they had no written agreement and had no duty to pay the fee as the then treasurer general Paul Mashatile had not concluded a contract.

Among the goods to be seized included office furniture such as filing cabinets, boardroom tables and chairs, computers and a Ford Ranger.
