In a determined effort to combat soaring unemployment rates in the region, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is making a significant move today.

The agency is taking its services to the Marapyane community, nestled within the Nkangala District.

The Social Security Agency has highlighted that many communities in the area and its surroundings rely on social grants for their survival. To address this critical issue, the agency is launching an Integrated Community Registration Outreach (ICROP) to extend its services.

SERVICES THAT ARE GOING TO BE OFFERED BY SASSA

Beneficiaries who wish to change their payment methods to banks of their choice will receive assistance on the spot. In an impressive show of collaboration, all levels of government, relevant stakeholders, and financial institutions will be present to offer their services, making this a one-stop solution for the community.

“SASSA’s decision to set up operations in Marapyane is a result of a temporal service point operating from Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:00. This service point caters to only five out of the 31 wards in the region, encompassing a total of 17 villages within a 30-kilometer radius.

“Consequently, the local office recognized the urgent need for an ICROP. Its goal is to reduce intake backlogs, alleviate overcrowding, and eliminate the need for clients to undertake long journeys to other nearby offices,” said SASSA.
