SANRAL announces eThekwini road closures for this weekend
SANRAL has announced road closures on the N3 highway for the weekend from Saturday 23 March to Monday 25 March
In a bid to enhance road infrastructure, the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) has announced the road closure of the N3 highway section between Spaghetti Junction and the M7 Farningham Ridge Interchange.
The road closure is scheduled to commence on Saturday, 23 March at 17:00 and will last until Monday, 25 March at 4:00.
N3 ROAD UPGRADES: BRIDGES CLOSURE ESSENTIAL FOR DEMOLITION
This closure is essential to facilitate the demolition of the St James Avenue (Spine Road) Eastern Bridge structure and the Lancaster Bridge, integral components of the ongoing construction process for the N3 road upgrades between the Westville Viaduct and the Paradise Valley interchange.
SANRAL had earlier this month informed motorists about lane closures along the N3 highway between the Westville Viaduct and Paradise Valley Interchange in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
These closures, which began on Monday, 11 March 2024, were to facilitate the repainting of lane markings and the installation of road studs, all crucial elements of the broader road upgrade project.
SANRAL URGES STRATEGIC TRIP PLANNING FOR SAFE AND TIMELY TRAVEL
Jason Lowe, SANRAL’s Eastern Region Project Manager, emphasised the importance of planning trips and considering alternative routes to ensure safe and timely arrival at destinations while adhering to speed limits.
“The lane closures will take place on the east and westbound lanes of the N3 between Westville Viaduct (Pavilion Mall) and Paradise Valley Interchange (N3/M13 split),” Lowe explained.
Lowe also assured that the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), along with the contractor’s traffic accommodation team, would monitor and manage traffic during this period.
SANRAL APOLOGISES FOR ROAD DISRUPTIONS, URGES PATIENCE FROM DRIVERS
Despite the inconveniences caused by these necessary road improvements, SANRAL extends its apologies and urges the motoring public to exercise patience and consideration on the road.
This temporary inconvenience is a crucial step towards enhancing the safety and efficiency of the N3 highway, benefiting all road users in the long run.
