Ringo Madlingozi of the EFF resigns from politics!
Veteran musician and former EFF MP Ringo Madlingozi has shifted focus away from politics, reaffirming his commitment to healing through music.
Afropop musician and former EFF Member of Parliament Ringo Madlingozi has decided to step away from politics.
EFF’S RINGO MADLINGOZI IS NO LONGER A POLITICIAN
The 60-year-old took to his X account on Saturday, 13 July, to reveal that he is no longer active in the political space, but will continue with his gift of music.
“I’m no longer active in politics. I will always love my brothers and sisters. My purpose to heal through my music will remain. I will die a fighter,” the Ndiyagodola hitmaker wrote.
JOINING THE EFF
Madlingozi was sworn in as an EFF MP in May 2019. This was after he ditched the African National Congress (ANC) – a party he supported for a very long time.
During a 2020 interview with Power FM, Madlingozi said he jumped ship because the EFF’s policies aligned with his political beliefs.
“The truth that EFF lives with – I resonate with it very well. The seven cardinal pillars which the first one is the expropriation of land without compensation.
“We need that land back so that people can start to live like people. There’s nothing else that can be done in this place without having land. A nation without land is no nation,” said Madlingozi.
Last year, the veteran musician resigned as an EFF MP, sparking confusion among many on social media who believed he had dumped the Julius Malema-led party.
At the time, a blog called PSAFLIVE reported that the singer was no longer an EFF member as the political party “is not growing and MPs are getting fired by Julius”.
Hitting back at the reoprts, the Sondela hitmaker said: “Ur journalism is fraud. Ur lies hide behind ur ‘reliable sources’. Ur wishes can never be mine. What u must write is the re-emergence of all my catalogue on all Digital Platforms for the first time on the 15th of Sept 2023. I’m @EFFSouthAfrica thru & thru. Ur Juno’s r liars [sic].”
