Next week, SASSA will begin payment for all eligible beneficiaries starting on Wednesday 2 August with the older person’s grant.

Recipients are reminded that they do not need to rush and withdraw the money on day it is available as SASSA would not reverse the money.

SASSA PAYOUT DATES:

All beneficiaries are able to withdraw the money at retail partners such as Spar, Checkers,  Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite as well as ATM’s and the Post Office.

Beneficiaries are also able to use the SASSA gold cards as normal debit cards to make purchases in store.

  • Older persons- 2 August
  • Disability- 3 August
  • Children’s grants (and all others)- 4 August

GRANT INCREASES OCTOBER 2023

Earlier this year SASSA announced it will be making R10 increases on all Grant’s as of 1st October 2023.

Here is what a SASSA beneficiary can expect to receive.

  • Older persons – R2 080 to R2090
  • Pension (75 and older) – R2 100 to R2110
  • Disability – R 2080 to R2090
  • War veterans – R2 100 to R2110
  • Child support – R500 to R510
  • Care dependency grant – R2 080 to R2090
  • Foster care grant – R1 120 to R1130
  • Grant-in-aid – R500 to R510

WHAT IS CARE DEPENDENCY GRANT

You can apply for a care dependency grant if there is a child that has a severe disability and requires fulltime home care.

The grant covers the child from birth till they turn 18.

In order to qualify you must

  • be a parent, primary caregiver or a foster parent appointed by the court
  • be a South African citizen or permanent resident
  • not earn more than R223 200 a year  if you are single. Your combined income should not be above R446 400  a year if you are married.

It must be noted that the income limit does not apply to foster parents.

The child must:

  • be younger than 18 years
  • not be cared for permanently in a state institution
  • have a severe disability and need full-time and special care.

The child will need to be assessed by a state doctor before the grant can be approved.
