The new Range Rover Sport SV is billed as the brand’s most powerful model yet, and the 467kW performance flagship is headed to South Africa.

The 2023 Range Rover Sport SV has broken cover and the big news is the performance flagship’s BMW-sourced mild-hybrid system coupled to a twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 467kW and 750Nm to all four wheel via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The performance figures propel the model into new territory and it has been installed as the most powerful Range Rover yet. The British carmaker reckons the 2 560 kilogram SUV can rocket from zero to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 290km/h.

THE NEW RANGE ROVER SPORT SV IS AVAILABLE WITH 23-INCH CARON FIBRE WHEELS

This new model debuts a few interesting features, chief among which is the 23-inch carbon fibre wheels. The carmaker say it’s the first time this option has been available on a production car and the benefits include a weight-saving of 76kg which can improve handling, acceleration and ride quality.

The Range Rover Sport SV is marketed as the sportiest model in the range, but owners still want the plush ride that the marque is known to deliver. Another world first says the brand is the hydraulic interlinked 6D Dynamics air suspension.

It features pitch and roll control to maintain a near-level stance during extreme acceleration, braking and cornering, according to Motorpress.

For 2023, the Range Rover Sport SV has an SV Mode button on the steering wheel. SV mode offers an elevated driving mode to the existing Dynamic mode.

In SV Mode the steering, eight-speed automatic gearbox, throttle response, exhaust note and 6D Dynamics suspension system – including lowering the ride height by an additional 15mm are changed to offer the most dynamic and visceral experience possible, according to Motor1.

ANOTHER FIRST FOR THE PERFORMANCE SUV IS THE BREMBO CARBON CERAMIC BRAKE OPTION

The performance SUV has become a big seller for carmakers and technology usually fitted to sports cars has trickled into these performance behemoths.

Thus it’s no surprise to see the Range Rover Sport SV is available for the first time lightweight and powerful Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brakes. It features no less eight-piston SV calipers.

In terms of styling, the SUV looks purposeful. Sporty design elements include a reprofiled front-end and lower body sides, carbon fibre bonnet and quad tailpipe finishers. Inside, it features an exclusive performance-focused SV interior.
