Rand Water increases supply to municipalities ahead of hot days
Despite facing a number of challenges this year Rand Water says it has increased supply to municipalities ahead of the festive season.
Ahead of hot summer days, which will increase consumption, bulk supplier Rand Water says it has increased supply to municipalities.
Rand Water is a potable supplier to provinces such as Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.
RAND WATER INCREASES SUPPLY TO ITS CUSTOMERS
Rand Water has faced several challenges this year, most caused by load shedding and vandalism, which saw taps run dry for days, especially in Gauteng municipalities.
In October, the Democratic Alliance (DA) even launched a petition to oust the entity’s CEO Sipho Mosai citing incompetence.
“The Rand Water CEO cannot fulfill his mandate. Cadre Deployment under the ANC has brought yet another state-owned entity to its knees. Now, we’ve had enough! Cadre or not, his time to take accountability for his failings has come. Should he refuse this call for accountability, we call on the Minister to get rid of him as soon as possible,” DA Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga said.

In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, the entity’s spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said they are equipped and ready for the festive season.
Maroo said they have increased the amount of water supplied to municipalities from 4700 megalitres to over 5000 megalitres daily.
“We are concerned by load shedding, but our two purification plants in Vereeniging and Zuikerbosch are exempted; however, at our tertiary pump stations, we do get load shedding,” she said.
