Rand Water CEO MUST GO petition goes live
The DA say Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai has failed the communities of Gauteng following water shortages and collapse of infrastructure.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng has activated its petition which seeks the removal of Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai.
WHY THE DA WANTS RAND WATER CEO TO GO
“Rand Water’s CEO has failed us. Infrastructure collapse, water shortages, and a humanitarian crisis – we can’t let one person’s incompetence affect millions,” said Solly Msimanga, the party’s provincial leader.
“Sign our petition for action! Together, we’ll demand accountability and a better future!”Msimanga

He further said it has become increasingly clear that Rand Water’s CEO is completely incapable of the task ahead of him.
“Under his leadership, the entity’s infrastructure has collapsed and he has not ensured that residents’ water supply is adequately managed. Water is a human right and he has failed on this mandate. We demand that the Minister of Water and Sanitation #FireTheCEO. The CEO HAS TO GO!,” Msimanga demanded.

HUMANITARIAN CRISIS UNFOLDING IN GAUTENG?
Previously, he said all municipalities in Gauteng have been saddled with a water shortage crisis that is not of their making.
“Due to the lack of maintenance and management of their water reticulation system, Rand Water has caused massive water shortages in Gauteng that have left some residents without water for over a month.
“Rand Water has caused a humanitarian crisis in Gauteng and they should be held accountable for it. Therefore, the DA calls on the CEO of Rand Water to do the honourable thing and resign. Failing which, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzu Mchunu, should fire the CEO,” Msimanga stated.

THE PETITION PROGRESS SO FAR
He further vented that the entity fails to communicate with municipalities and the residents of Gauteng about the water shortage that they have caused and conveniently points fingers at municipalities when they are indeed to blame.
“This can no longer be tolerated and it is time that Rand Water is held to account for its failure and human rights abuse,” he said.
The petition has garnered almost 75000 signature on its first day.
