Power down in Tshwane! These areas face 10-hour blackout
Power outage alert for parts of Tshwane! Expect no lights for 10 hours as City upgrades infrastructure.
The City of Tshwane plans to do maintenance on the Saulsville Substation on Tuesday, 23 July.
To ensure safety, the power supply to the substation will be shut down for 10 hours, from 8:00 to 18:00. This necessary disruption will impact several areas and facilities within the city.
AREAS AND FACILITIES AFFECTED BY THE POWER OUTAGE
Residents in Atteridgeville plots, Brazzaville, and Siyahlala will experience the power outage. The interruption will also affect informal settlements in Jeffsville and Vergenoeg. Key facilities like Phumulong Clinic and Leratong Hospice will be without power, as well as Atteridgeville West, including extension 19.
The City of Tshwane emphasised safety during this maintenance period. “Customers are advised to treat all electricity supply points as live at all times,” stated the City of Tshwane.
They stress that even with the power shut down, the risk of unexpected electrical hazards remains, so caution is paramount.
CITY’S APOLOGY AND SAFETY MEASURES
The city expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by this planned maintenance work. The temporary disruption is essential to maintain and improve the electrical infrastructure in the area. While these upgrades are necessary, the city acknowledges the temporary hardships they might impose on residents and businesses.
