A poll being done by news network eNCA and market research company Ipsos has found that the Democratic Alliance could win Nelson Mandela Bay and Tshwane/Pretoria, and could rule in a coalition government in Johannesburg.
The poll was carried out on June 6 and 7, and results were compared to the 2014 national election results. Ipsos was quoted saying there was a 1.5 – 5.5 percentage point margin of error in the results. A large percentage of votes remained undecided, which could also change the results substantially before the 3 August elections.
These are some of the findings:
In Nelson Mandela Bay, which includes Port Elizabeth, the poll found that the DA is leading the ANC 34 percent to 30 percent.
In Tshwane, the DA led the ANC 33 percent to 28 percent.
In Johannesburg, the ANC (which had 42 percent at the 2014 national election) was only two points ahead of the DA, 31 percent to 29 percent.
