Person who shot Senzo Meyiwa was ‘taller than him’
Autopsy – The Pretoria High Court on 29 August 2023 heard that Senzo Meyiwa was shot at close range by someone who was taller than him.
The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial was heard at the Pretoria High Court on 29 August 2023, with seasoned pathologist Dr Johannes Steenkamp taking the stand.
Dr Steenkamp revealed the primary causes of Senzo Meyiwa. He said the star was shot at close range, possibly an arm’s distance.

CAUSES OF DEATH REVEALED
Dr Steenkamp revealed that the Orlando Pirates star died from heavy blood loss and lung and heart damage.
He has it that the star had internal bleeding caused by damaged tissues around his heart. The court also heard that the wound was so bad that he could only have survived for a few seconds or minutes rather than hours.
Dr Steenkamp said, “The heart and the lungs are important organs. This type of injury can cause a fatality, sometimes instantaneously. I think, in this case, he was a fit young man. He probably would’ve survived seconds, minutes, definitely not hours.”

WHO SHOT SENZO MEYIWA?
However, his report also left many trying to connect the dots on who shot Senzo. Against his report, Mzansi has since removed Kelly Khumalo and Zandile from the equation since it was revealed that he was shot by someone taller than him.
Dr Steenkamp revealed that the gunshot’s angle and nature show that Senzo Meyiwa was shot by someone taller than him.

The court also heard that the firearm was likely pressed against him.
He dispelled the notion by witnesses that he was shot from the back. Steenkamp findings suggested that he was shot from the front and at close range, possibly an arm’s distance.
