Patrons tip waiters R10 000 at Cape Town coffee shop

The I Love Coffee shop in Cape Town revealed on their Facebook account that they received a R10 000 tip when staffers from Libra Walk Essential Services popped in for a cup of coffee.

PATRONS TIP R10 000

The Cape Town Coffee shop thanked the patrons for their R10 000 donation and revealed what they plan to do with the money.

 

“Kindness happens when you least expect it. These incredible people from Libra Walk Essential Services came for coffee and left us a massive R10 000 donation. We are going to be able to buy new uniforms for everyone. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” said the restaurant on Facebook.

Cape Talk reveals that the popular coffee shop empowers deaf youth by training and employing them as baristas and chefs.

Gary Hopkins, who is the owner of I Love Coffee revealed to the radio station that their coffee shop in Cape Town is staffed mainly by deaf employees.

Hopkins added that they are used to them being appreciated: ” Just the other day a group of gentlemen came in – the last customers of the day, they had a cup of coffee and on their way out they just very casually said ‘can we leave a R10 000 tip?’”.

He adds that he was speechless and that the group of four from Libra Walk Essential Services did not look like regular patrons.

WHAT I LOVE CAPE TOWN COFFEE SHOP PLANS TO DO WITH DONATION?

The Cape Town coffee shop owner adds that the patrons, who tipped R10 000 saw the sign displayed saying it helps deaf youth shine as baristas and chefs.

 

“I think they (the big tippers) just saw the sign, saw the videos of our staff winning competitions and how they were just doing their job… and it impressed them enough and they introduced themselves as Libra Walk and gave us R10 000!”, adds Hopkins.

Hopkins also tells the radio station that I Love Coffee shop in Cape Town and the patrons have remained in contact and are now building relationship.

He concludes the interview by revealing that the staffers at the coffee shop want beautiful uniforms and this shows how much pride they take in their jobs.
