Orange level 5 warning issued for damaging winds in Eastern Cape
A cold front will make landfall on Friday, 25 August. Rough seas and very strong damaging winds are expected in the Eastern Cape.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an Orange level 5 warning for damaging winds in the Eastern Cape.
The warning is valid only on Friday, 25 August.

STRONG DAMAGING WINDS IN THE EASTERN CAPE
The weather service said a cold front is expected to pass the country resulting in the tightening of pressure gradients over the interior of the province.
This will result in strong winds with very strong gusts that could cause damage.
POSSIBLE IMPACTS:
- Damage to settlements, properties and temporary structures.
- Disruption to roads due to falling trees.
- Difficult driving conditions and possible accidents due to cross winds.
- Disruption to power supply and communication.
- Risk of runway fires.

The weather service has also issued several advisories and impact based warnings as a cold front will make landfall over the south-western Cape on Friday.
The cold front is expected to spread eastwards on Saturday, 26 August. As a result rain, rough seas, strong to gale force winds and cold temperatures can be expected over the Cape provinces.
