NSRI conduct search for missing man at Hartbeespoort Dam
NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam are assisting police divers in an ongoing search for a local man who fell out of a boat.
NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam are assisting police divers in an ongoing search for a local man who went missing on Saturday afternoon.
The 40-year-old man reportedly fell out of a boat close to Caribbean Estate (near to Randburg Bridge) and disappeared under the water.
According to the NSRI website, a group of friends were on the boat when the man and two female friends fell overboard.
The boat is believed not to been in motion at the time.
The two women were rescued and were not injured.
The NSRI commended private boaters, who were in the area at the time, for commencing a search while raising the alarm.
NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew were activated at 14:28.
NSRI CONDUCTING ONGOING SEARCH
The NSRI rescue craft Sea Legs and Rotary Endeavour were launched while the SA Police Services and SRU (Strategic Rescue Unit) were alerted.
On arrival on the scene following an extensive search, which included NSRI rescue swimmers conducting free dive search efforts, there still – as of Sunday evening – remains no signs of the missing man.
Police divers, assisted by NSRI and SRU, are continuing in an ongoing search operation.
Family of the missing man are being supported by counsellors.
