PRETORIA – The swearing-in ceremony for the new Ministers and Deputy Ministers is due to take place this evening at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House, in Pretoria, according to the Presidency.

But not if the DA and many South Africans have their way!

The DA has sought an urgent interdict, which was due to start at 14h30, to halt the swearing in of what they call “Jacob Zuma’s compromised cabinet members”. According to DA leader Mmusi Maimane – the swearing in is set to take place at 18h00 this evening.

Marches are also taking place around the country today against what many are calling ‘state capture’.

Addressing a crowd of supporters former Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas, who was fired along with Finance Minster Pravin Gordhan in the middle of the night last night, said: “A nation organised is a nation that will succeed.”

Last night, President Jacob Zuma appointed the new members of the National Executive.

Ministers who were already serving in Cabinet in other portfolios, as well as serving Deputy Ministers who are taking up responsibilities in new portfolios do not have to be sworn in for the second time, the Presidency said.
