“We salute Nestlé for its investment in our country over the years – particularly for its investment in the local economy through skills development programs, job creation and through establishing local manufacturing bases in South Africa,” said Proudly SA’s CEO, Adv. Leslie Sedibe.

“Nestlé SA has made a tangible difference in the lives of millions of South Africans who have grown up with the brand. From the breakfast table to the dinner table and from childhood to adulthood, we have come to enjoy products which speak to the highest quality and safety standards – products for South Africans made by South Africans,” added Adv. Sedibe.

Proudly SA endorses various products manufactured at local Nestlé plants, including Maggi 2 Minute Noodles, Cremora, Ricoffy and various chocolates and milk formula products.

Proudly SA promotes the “Buy Local” philosophy, which encourages consumers and large-scale procurers to buy locally manufactured goods and services with a view to contributing towards the growth of South Africa’s manufacturing base as well as job creation.

The organization also welcomes and encourages foreign direct investment, where international enterprises invest in South Africa and ultimately contribute towards the growth of the local economy and create jobs for locals.

“If a multi-national such as Nestlé sees the value of investing in South Africa, then so should we as procurers and consumers. We really need to support and increase our uptake of locally made goods and services so that we can continue to attract investment as well as grow our manufacturing sector,” said Adv. Sedibe.

As part of its 100 year celebrations, Nestlé South Africa hosted an event at its factory in Escourt, KwaZulu-Natal yesterday. The multi-national organization also showcased the expansion of its coffee factory and detailed its contribution to energizing rural economies.
