Mossel Bay Child Donates His Savings for Underprivileged Children at Christmas

A five-year-old boy from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape, South Africa, has become a social media star after generously donating all his savings from the past year to help make Christmas special for some underprivileged children in the area.

According to the SABC News Western Cape, Grade R learner Denzhe Ndou used his savings to treat the children at an informal settlement in Klein Brak River.

Over the past year Denzhe had saved R320 in coins (which had to first be exchanged at the bank), but instead of buying something for himself… he decided to help brighten Christmas for almost 50 children in the settlement, by buying them party packs!

His mom Ndivhuwo told the SABC that “nowadays kids need to grow up with the spirit of sharing within them and not to be greedy. I believe if we teach them from our own homes about giving then they will grow up with it.”

Kindness has swept Mossel Bay recently. Just before Christmas, an anonymous benefactor paid off the lay-by bills (R137,000) for 363 Mossel Bay residents at the local Pep Store. The donor, who is a local resident himself, wrote notes to each customer, signing them as the ‘Grateful Humanist’.
