MK Party interim youth leader, Bonginkosi Khanyile, has threatened that the MK Party will bring the entire country to its knees and effectively stop the May elections if former president and party leader Jacob Zuma’s name is not on the ballot papers.

Khanyile, who was charged with incitement to commit violence for the July 2021 unrest and was convicted of public violence for the #FeesMustFall student protests in 2016, says the constitution does not prevent Zuma from being on the ballot.

POLITICAL PRISONER-WANNABE – X USERS ON MK PARTY YOUTH LEADER

Some social media users say that Khanyile is trying too hard to be recognised as a ‘political prisoner’, so much so that he could get himself arrested for incitement of violence.

“I don’t know who is advising Bonginkosi Khanyile, but at this rate, he might get himself arrested for incitement of violence, and nobody will consider him as a political prisoner,” @thabo_shingange posted on X.

‘SOLDIERS WE DEFEATED IN JULY UNREST’ – KHANYILE

“If they remove MK and President Zuma as the face of the campaign, there won’t be elections in South Africa. Let me repeat this so that they can use this video as evidence in court when we are arrested. We mean what we say,” Khanyile said recently.

“What do we do with this military which they are going to unleash? The soldiers were defeated by the July unrest. Do you think you can stop MK?” he asked.

Khanyile has been in the spotlight since he told reporters on Wednesday that he was willing to be arrested as the party continues to threaten “there will be no elections without MK and Zuma.

KHANYILE TRIAL FOR JULY 2021 UNREST SET FOR JUNE

Khanyile, expected to go on trial in June relating to charges of inciting violence in the July 2021 unrest, which happened after Zuma was arrested, said he was not scared to go to jail for trying to stop the elections.

“Unleash all police officers, and we will meet toe-to-toe for this democracy; we will defend it. We want to vote, failure to do that, there won’t [be] an election.”

“You want to see who the instigator is then you arrest Bonginkosi Khanyile as usual and deny me bail and maybe take four or five of our comrades and you brand us as instigators, that is OK. In five years, we come out, but Zuma will be on the ballot,” he said.

‘THERE WILL BE RIOTS LIKE NEVER BEFORE,’ SAID MK PARTY LEADER, REDDY

Last week, another MK Party leader from KwaZulu Natal (KZN), Visvin Reddy, was in the spotlight for saying there will be riots that have never been seen in this country before and there will be no election if Zuma is not on the ballot paper.

“Hear me very carefully; this country will be turned into civil war the day the MK Party is not allowed to campaign and to be on the ballot paper. No one will vote, and we will make sure that no one will vote,” Reddy said in the video.

“There will be riots that have never been seen in this country. There will be no election. No South African will go to the polls if MK is not on the ballot,” he added.
