MK Party appoints Bonginkosi Khanyile as new youth leader
The MK Party has appointed Bonginkosi Khanyile as their new youth leader after he was expelled by the the Patriotic Alliance.
Former #FeesMustFall activist and July 2021 unrest suspect Bonginkosi Khanyile has been appointed the new national youth co-ordinator for Jacob Zuma’s new Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party.

The announcement comes in the wake of his dismissal from the Patriotic Alliance led by Gayton Mckenzie. Khanyile was expelled by his party last month after he was seen speaking at an MK rally. .

RIGHT CREDENTIALS FOR THE JOB SAYS MK PARTY
His new role as leader of “Umkhonto we Sizwe youth ground forces (MK YGF) will be to co-ordinate and organise the youth to rally behind the MK party.
“Comrade Bonginkosi Khanyile has the right credentials and consciousness to lead efforts to overcome the myriad of challenges facing the youth of our country,” according to a statement released by MK acting secretary Thanduxolo Gorbachev Dyodyo.
Dyodyo said the decision was made after assessing the situation facing the youth in our country and which youth leader would be best suited and fit-for-purpose to lead.

MK YOUTH WING TO WAGE POPULAR STRUGGLES: FREE EDUCATION
“His role will be to co-ordinate efforts and organise the youth to rally behind the banner of the MK party, while mobilising and agitating them to wage popular struggles.”
“Ours is to centre the agenda of the youth at all material times. Free education, employment for all, a fight against drugs and alcohol, a fight against GBV and all other social [ills] top our agendas as the incoming government,” he said.

DISMISSED FOR BRINGING PA PARTY INTO DISREPUTE
Patriotic Alliance leaders Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene said the former student activist was dismissed after he attended a rally of the newly formed Umkhonto we Sizwe party
“The leadership of the PA has decided that it is not acceptable for any leader of the PA to appear, without consultation of other PA leaders, at an event of a rival political party,” they two said in a statment.

“Khanyile’s appearance was used by PA detractors to suggest that the PA is affiliated with MK in some way and that Khanyile was endorsing the party, particularly because Khanyile was accompanied to the event by PA supporters wearing our party’s regalia.
“Khanyile’s actions have brought both himself and the party into disrepute in a manner that unfortunately requires the firmest and most decisive responses,” the party said.
