The Democratic Alliance (DA) posted photos on Saturday (see below) of Mayor Herman Mashaba working hard to “clean-up Jozi’s inner city”, in an effort to stir up support as he faces a Motion of No Confidence tabled by the ANC.
In a move that is both physical and metaphorical, Mashaba has worked hard in the past year to not only clean up the refuse and rubbish in Johannesburg… but to clean up the corrupt activities (allegedly R16-billion worth) he claims he inherited from the previous ANC administration.
Today the DA said: “The change that he is delivering is a threat to the ANC. He has managed to achieve in 1 year what the ANC could not achieve in over 20 years. We cannot return to the ANC’s corrupt system.”
The ANC in Johannesburg has tabled a Motion of No Confidence against Mashaba.
In response the DA has urged its followers to sign a petition showing they stand behind Mashaba, and pointed out that he has already allocated R1.9 billion to upgrading 51 informal settlements, created over 21,000 EPWP job opportunities, delivered over 3,900 title deeds to residents and hired 1,500 more Metro Police officers to keep communities safe.
