In a big win for students, the class of 2023 achieved a great 82.9% pass rate for matric results 2023, beating all previous records since democracy began.

Minister Angie Motshekga shared this exciting news in Johannesburg, showing improvement from 80.1% in 2022 and 76.4% in 2021.

The Free State was the top province with an excellent 89.3% pass rate, followed closely by KwaZulu-Natal at 86.3%. Gauteng, with an 85.3% pass rate, secured the third spot.
