Mark Pilgrim: Therapy dogs pop in for surprise visit – PICTURES

Popular radio presenter Mark Pilgrim has taken to social media to give fans an update on his health.

Pilgrim has been in the thoughts and prayers of South Africans in recent months, no more so than on Saturday.

Saturday, 4 February 2023 was World Cancer Day.

As extensively reported by The South African website, Pilgrim has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which he revealed in June 2022 had spread to his femur, the base of his spine and lymph nodes.

He has provided regular social media health updates to his followers in his ongoing battle against the dreaded disease.

In his most recent post on Sunday, the Hot102.7fm radio DJ shared with his Twitter and Instagram followers that his family had had “a surprise visit from Golden Rescue SA”.

The 53-year-old, who previously worked at 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm and Hot91, added ‘thanks for bringing 3 of your highly trained Retriever therapy dogs for a bit of fun and interaction’.

Pilgrim wrote: “Surprise visit for the girls from Golden Rescue SA! Thanks for bringing 3 of your highly trained Retriever therapy dogs for a bit of fun and interaction ??”

Meanwhile, as reported by The South African website, Pilgrim proposed to his partner Adrienne Watkins on New Year’s Eve last year, shortly after he was discharged from hospital, having spent 64 days – during which time he lost almost 15kg – in ICU.
