LOAD SHEDDING SUSPENDED

In a brief statement, the power utility said owing to the stable electricity demand and generation performance, the current pattern where loadshedding is implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 the following day and suspended from 05:00 until 16:00, will continue daily until further notice.

“Eskom will communicate should any significant changes occur,” the power utility said.

KUSILE POWER STATION UNIT RETURNS TO SERVICE

Meanwhile Eskom has confirmed that the first unit, amongst the three impacted by the collapse of stacks in October 2022 at Kusile Power Station, has returned to service.

According to the power utility, Kusile Power Station Unit 3 returned to service two months ahead of schedule and will improve the available generation capacity by 800 MW’s once loaded to full capacity.

“This marks a significant milestone in Eskom’s efforts to reduce and ultimately end loadshedding.

“The switch on was done after receiving the positive decision on the Kusile Atmospheric Emission Licence (AEL) appeal from the Minister of Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and the Nkangala District Municipality,” the utility said.
