Golden Lions Julian Redelinghuys is due to undergo surgery Sunday morning, and is expected to make a full recovery following the “desperately unlucky collision” during Saturday’s Currie Cup match against the Free State Cheetahs in which he sustained a serious neck injury.
The Lions Rugby Union published the medical report from team doctor Dr Rob Collins on their Facebook page.
Dr Collins said: “He sustained a dislocation of his neck at C5/6 level during the game. He has minimal temporary weakness of his left arm. He is in traction at a Bloemfontein hospital and will go to surgery tomorrow morning to reduce the dislocation and stabilise it. He is expected to make a full recovery.”
