The KZN Tourism and Film Authority recently launched its summer campaign, highlighting all the fun to be had in KZN this festive season.

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Tourism and Film Authority officially launched KZN’s summer season on the South Coast, also highlighting ongoing developments what’s to come for the festive season.
According to Tourism Update, this year’s campaign is themed “Magical Zulu Kingdom”, and will spotlight the province’s cultural and natural attractions including blue flag beaches, marine activities and adventure tourism offerings.
Speaking at the launch, Musa Zondi, MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs emphasised KZN’s unique appeal, saying that KwaZulu-Natal was rich in culture, history and natural beauty, offering experiences that are unparalleled.
Blue Flags for KZN South Coast
The province, and the South Coast in particular was also recently awarded seven Blue Flags for its beaches for the 2024/2025 season from the Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa (WESSA).
These seven KZN South Coast beaches include:
- Marina Beach – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
- Trafalgar Beach – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
- Southport Beach – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
- Umzumbe Beach – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
- Ramsgate Beach – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
- Hibberdene Beach – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
- Pennington Beach – Umdoni Municipality
Summer tourism to sizzle in Durban
In similar news, Durban is expecting a busy summer ahead with a forecasted occupancy rate of 65% from December to February, and 80% expected in December alone.
International tourists are expected to account for 7% of visitors, 13% will be from KZN province with the remaining 80% from South Africa’s other provinces.
“We want tourists to discover Durban’s hidden gems, the less explored aspects of our city, from stunning coastal beach resorts to charming local attractions,” eThekwini Municipality Spokesperson Gugu Sisilana said as per Travel News.
“We also want our visitors to know that the city is ready to host them. The safety of residents and visitors remains a top priority as the city gears up for the festive season.” Sisilana added.
